Invitation to workshop: SAMIRA CARE study on criteria for acceptability of medical radiological equipment - Luxembourg (LU)
Over the past year and a half, members of the European Institute for Biomedical Imaging Research (EIBIR), European Association of Nuclear Medicine (EANM), European Federation of Organisations for Medical Physics (EFOMP), and European Society of Radiology (ESR) have investigated new technologies and regulations of medical radiological equipment used in diagnostic radiology, nuclear medicine and radiotherapy since the publication of Radiation Protection Series No. 162 in 2012. Using a literature review and survey of medical physics societies, the consortium is prepared to fulfil the objectives of the SAMIRA study on criteria for acceptability of medical radiological equipment, or CARE project. New and obsolete equipment have been identified, and the study has collected and analysed criteria of acceptability to draft an updated publication that aligns with current standards and innovations, consistent with the mandates of Council Directive 2013/59/Euratom.
A specific objective of the project is to organise a European workshop to present and validate the results of the work conducted and discuss issues relating to criteria of acceptability and equipment safety in diagnostic radiology, nuclear medicine and radiotherapy with important stakeholder groups.
As relevant stakeholders in these areas, radiologists, specialists in equipment used for radiology, and members of the European Society of Radiology are kindly invited to attend this workshop, hear of the consortium’s work to date, and discuss its findings with members of the European Commission and consortium.
